Análisis cefalométrico utilizando tomografía computarizada de haz cónico: revisión de literatura
Resumen
El análisis cefalométrico es una herramienta fundamental en ortodoncia para evaluar las estructuras craneofaciales, guiar el diagnóstico y tratamiento de maloclusiones. Tradicionalmente se ha realizado en radiografías 2D. La Tomografía Computadorizada de Haz Cónico (CBCT) ha revolucionado este campo, ofreciendo imágenes 3D para el análisis Objetivo: Este estudio se basa en una revisión tradicional de literatura existente sobre el uso de CBCT en análisis cefalométrico. Metodología: Se realizó la búsqueda en las bases de datos PubMed/MEDLINE, Google Scholar y SciELO, incluyendo los artículos publicados entre 2013-2024. Se explica la transición del análisis cefalométrico 2D al 3D, desafíos en la localización de puntos cefalométricos, necesidad de nuevos parámetros y entrenamiento del clínico. Conclusión: En conclusión, el análisis cefalométrico en la CBCT se puede considerar una nueva herramienta para el tratamiento ortodóntico, pues ofrece ventajas significativas, sin embargo, su implementación requiere de la consideración del costo-beneficio y la formación adecuada del profesional.
